Using what the land provides
We have talked about getting a fire pit for the spring and summer nights since we have moved here. We just never liked any fire pits or thought that they were worth their cost.
While we were clearing out some old leaves around the front of our yard, we discovered some old bricks. We ended up having enough to start a ring. We then decided to dig up the river rocks that were all across our property to build up the walls, hide the brick, and create a base that allowed for drainage for the fire pit when it rained.
Even more awesome, we were able to get the kiddos involved in the process of rock collecting. They were able to use their shovels and toy dump trucks to collect and transfer the rocks to the fire pit area.
S’mores and hotdogs here we come!
