Rodent problem? Enter barn cat!

Over the past year we have seen a slow rise in mouse droppings here and there. With the increased amounts of livestock feed we have been keeping, we have found the rodent population go from being manageable with mouse traps to the mice being in everything. What is out little homestead to do with this growing problem? Enter Cat Sajak. He is a barn cat we got from the local animal shelter. He was a participant of the Trap Neuter Release program, but he got released into our care instead of back into the “wild”. Now the fun begins. We have to treat him like a baby. Set a routine feeding and cleaning schedule, make him feel safe, loved, and cared for. All in the high hopes that he will kill or eat the mice and other vermin on our property. The risk of doing something like this is that he could just decide we aren’t his cup of tea and bounce. Fingers crossed, he chooses to hang on the radical homestead and work for us.
