Spring chicks are here!

It is an exciting time around the homestead! We got our meat birds, some guinea fowl, some layers, and two pet bantam chicks (one for each of our children). The house is filled with their sweet little peeps and the reality of potentially having 50 full grown birds is sinking in! We are looking forward to having more layers to add to our robust flock of ladies.

Our meat birds will be ready to eat in about two months, and the layers will begin producing eggs starting around 18-20 weeks of age. The guineas are a little bit of an experiment. Hopefully, they will be great foragers, eating all the ticks and other creepy crawly insects.
