Building raised beds

public.jpeg

We have slowly been constructing our inexpensive raised beds since we moved here in fall. The design is fairly simple and uses a small amount of wood for structural support. We added a “critter” barrier to the bottom to protect our produce from any investigative creatures and filled the base with old pieces of wood to act as filler and eventually a source of nutrition for the soil in the box once it decomposes completely. After the wood, we topped it with some compost mixed with dried grass clippings and leaves. We think the finished products looks clean. All we have left to do is seal the wood with bees wax, fill them with soil, and put our seedlings in there!
