Preparing the ground for the OrChArd

We had a tree service come by last week to trim up some or the larger trees. We asked them to put the wood chips in our back corner near the Ladies’ run. Our plan is to eventually have a mini orchard in that space. If only the trees we ordered would get here…

We decided to try out Paul Gautschi‘s “Back to Eden” gardening method for our orchard and are hopeful that the wood chips will help to maintain moisture in the soil, along with providing fertilization and easy weeding. Back to Eden Gardening is a good documentary you all should check out if you are interested in this methodology and want to learn more. We will be applying similar methodology for our garden once we get our fence up.
