Another successful harvest
Here at the radical homestead we find every opportunity to fellowship with others. We invited friends to come help up, once again, to harvest our meat birds. This was another teaching opportunity and another great refresher for those who needed it. We have noticed that fellowship turns our less bearable tasks into almost pleasureful tasks just because we have others to walk along side us.
We also culled our one and only Guinea fowl and decided that we would barbecue him for the family to try it out. To our surprise it was delicious. Although it was a bit tough because of its age, the breast tasted like chicken and the lower half of the bird tasted like a red meat. This got us thinking that there may be something to the breeding and eating of guineas. They were difficult birds for us to raise though so it will most likely be more effort to go down that path. We shall see what we end up doing in the future.
