Homestead planning and future dreams

Over the past year we have been working on becoming more self sufficient. We have started a small orchard, raised beds, in ground garden, attempted a blueberry patch, rail planters, strawberry pyramid, bees, meat chickens, layers, and now pigs. It has been a lightning fast and fun experience trying to get these things up and running.

We have hopes for one day becoming even more productive and self sufficient as a homestead. What does this look like? Maybe a greenhouse with aquaponics? Breeding pairs of livestock, be it sheep, goats, or pigs, would be another big step which would require a good amount of research and planning. Maybe one day a dairy cow, in the far away future. We have also entertained the idea of incubating and raising our own chicks.

The sky is the limit as to oury potential growth. One thing is for sure, it will require hard work and diligence to maintain what we have and to expand.

Happy New Years!
